All right, I've only received two count 'em, two entries to my songwriting contest (and one of them is my own). The other was submitted by T. Analog Kid.
T.'s submission is from an improv session that he recorded with some other cool musicians. He plays bass on the track very well, I might add. :)
T. Analog Kid's submission (http://www.strobelight.ca/music/TAK.mp3).
My submission is the first draft of a piece I put together after seeing the movie Whale Rider. All of the noises were made by yours truly on an electric guitar (that includes the whale sounds). :)
Twinky's submission (http://www.strobelight.ca/music/Paikea.mp3).
The songs are hosted at my own domain (which has no forum). I'll link this thread from Hatrack.
So. Listen, vote, and bug John, Caleb, and Thor to submit something next time we do this. :)

T's is only 8 seconds long. Is there a problem with the file or something?

There certainly is most of it isn't there
...my ISP chose the exact same moment I began uploading his song to cut my bandwidth by more than an order of magnitude, meaning I'm uploading it at dialup rates. Slooooow dialup rates. Needless to say, I'm pretty mad
...but it WILL be up eventually. I'll post again as soon as it's there.

Slide bars are great, aren't they? I remember when I used to do that while playing guitar for a band. I used to call it "going Free Willy."
And I promise I'll get something finished for you as soon as I can. It's not just school that's got me overwhelmed, it's the work that's been picking up (which I'm glad about, because I work contractually) and some research I'm doing that I may have to take up with the local news stations (which is also good, because any technical credibility I gain will look good on a resume'). Of course, all that while doing a 19 credit semester leaves my plate full.

They're both pretty different so this is a tough choice. They're both pretty good too. :D

I can't get anything from either one :o either because AOL sucks (which it does, but not as bad as my college's server, where I can't even get onto this site) or my computer is just too old.
Probably just sucky AOL. I'll try again another time.
And John---if you need help with contacting news organizations or getting to them easier, I can help you out with that. ;)

No one seems to be voting. Talk about a dead heat.

Wow, more votes are still coming in. Craziness...
But the bottom line is that people are listening to our stuff, which is awesome. :)
Twinky, I like guitar solo's, but I like drums and bass more.
In that way, my vote was a bit biased. I also thought T. Analog Kid deserved a few extra kudos for improv work.
I'm learning guitar (acoustic only for now) myself, I play drums, and bass is next on my list.
I loved them both, and surprisingly, they both sound as if they should be on an album (I don't want to say radio because most of the time radio is bad anyway). Sorry, I just liked his a little better.

No need to apologize. :) I'm just glad people are listening to us.
