Do you like teaching English? What's it like? Do you prefer college or high school? Is there anything you especially love? Would you reccomend it?

Do you like teaching English?
Yes.

What's it like?
Pretty fun. I am excited and pumped about the stuff I teach, and that's infectious. I don't go in and drone on in a monotone about the recursive allusion of T.S. Elliot. I gesticulate wildly, laugh a lot, and make comparisons between modern situations and classical ones. My students are totally absorbed. I've got poor Hispanic kids from the colonias reading "Antigone" and connecting. It's badass.

Do you prefer college or high school?
In high school, the challenge is keeping them engaged, keeping the material alive. College classes are better because they focus without your leaning on them, but there's less energy. I like both.

Is there anything you especially love?
Teaching kids classical rhetoric and having them analyze dialogues, speeches and epistles by rhetors like Socrates, Seneca, Cicero. Everyone thinks I'm nuts to make them do it, but the kids love me for having that sort of respect for them. I tell them, "Who says a bunch of Mexican kids can't get this? THEY'RE the ones who're nuts." They love that stuff.

Would you reccomend it? Yes, but it's a lot of work, so you'd better love it, too.

Today, I went to the store and found the perfect hat rack for my front room. I have yet to post about it on h*****k, though.

Yes, it's made the "no-no" list, guys. No offense, but I kind of don't like being reminded constantly of what happened, for various reasons. It's the same reason why I prefer to not be called "Leto" any more. When someone is kicked out of a party, it's usually impolite (or sadistic) to constantly refer to the party or tell how everyone is having a good time.

The no-no list?

But, I think of you as Leto.

And what, you're gonna stop being the God Emperor because of some jerk who mistreated you?

I only call you Leto when I'm talking about you behind your back to someone who doesn't know your name is John. :P

Bah, I'm not pouting. And I already know there are simply some who think of me as "Leto," which doesn't bother me at all. However, I take special exception to being (however unintentionally) subordinized by a place that decided to demonize me for things others do plenty enough and get away with.

As for the boys' club (Ornery), that was my decision, so the big M is not at fault there.

Oh, and Ela & Kama: that's fine. I've been called/considered way worse, so don't worry. :)

But, I think of you as Leto.

I agree. But if you really don't like it, I'll start calling you sexy pants again. Ummm...I mean...for the first time. Yeah...
