Hey all. I had 4 long island iced tees tonight, so I feel qualified to start this thread. I'm actually hanging out at the office waiting to be sober enough to drive home. I have a sub from the Oswego Sub-shop here which is helping me in this task. I'm thinking it will still be an hour or two before I can drive home though. Stupid good tasting long island iced teas. Theres like 6 shots in them, but you can drink them like they are nothing. It defies logic I swear. Something with that much alcohal should taste horrible, but for some reason they rock.
I dont really have anything important to say I guess. Night all.

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.

I was supposed to feel better.
BETTER.
Sadly, I do not.
...I went out on an Oktoberfest expedition. In part because I had promised I would and in part to see if I could get a certain somebody out of my head and thereby improve my mood. Unfortunately, while I did have a great time, my mood at this stage is no better than I left... and I had quite a bit to drink in the interim.
:(
I think I'll just go to bed and see if I can't simply sleep women out of my life.
After drinking a glass of home-made strawberry and cherry wine last night, I got a headache, plus I had a dream about the cute driver boy, in which he was dying of some disease, and I wanted to kiss him, but he wouldn't because he has a girlfriend. pfff.

I had two glasses of some rummy egg nog the other night, as a friend of mine and I played each other at a game called Total Annihilation. Once again, I wouldn't say I came anywhere near being drunk, but I got the warm nose feeling again.

The good/bad thing about drinking a little too much is that you say whatever you mean---nothing is held back. You can really mean it for all times or just mean it that second, in a huff of emotion....and you type badly. And dance badly at weddings with your sister cuz none of your cousins business fraternity friends wants to mingle with anyone and her husband's best friend is gay and won't even look at you because you've noticed his "guest" but you really don't care, you just wanna dance dirty with someone other than your drunk sister.............sorry, rambling.
I think Leonide was just having one of those good moments.
I used to work in an office and every other day there was some kind of party where everyone brought lots of food. This one Irish lady used to bring in these rum cakes. I swear, she must have put a coupla fifths into the thing. Eat a slice and get a buzz, eat a few and get hammered.
Damn, I miss her rum cake.
It made dealing with customers a little easier sometimes....

I don't drink often, and when I do, it isn't much. I had 2 glasses last night, rather quickly, and without food. I usually don't do that. that's the max.
I just wanted to get it out of the fridge. I bought it Saturday, so me and my sis could sit and have wine, crackers, cheese, and clams oregnata while watching A&E's Pride and Prejudice.
It was a bit celebratory.
Now she's back at school, and I didn't want the wine in the fridge anymore...

Damn it, my alcohol tolerance is too high. I'm not nearly as drunk as I'd like to be.
Nonetheless, it's been an awesome night. Saw a few people I don't get to see very often, which was nice. Though I'm not sure whether or not one of my friends was trying to pick me up (so to speak). Dunno how I'm going to deal with that one. I suppose I don't see her that often, but still, it'd be nice to know what her intentions were/are.
BtL, who lives in my house, appears to be on the phone. I can only assume it's with a certain somebody who has been known to post here. It wouldn't be irksome except that I'm about to attempt sleeping and he's talking right next to where my head is about to be. Normally he hates phones. Curses!

I thought that I would give a little photo essay about the last night I got drunk. This was the last time I hung out with my friends Pat, Austin, and Joe before leaving for California. He just posted them on his website.
Here's us at the start of the night, hanging out at The Sting and playing pool. From left to right its Pat, Austin, Me and Joe. Notice how much I need a hair-cut.

This is several drinks later at the Brick-house. I like to stick my tongue out when drunk.
http://www.cs.oswego.edu/~pfisher/pat_picture/night2/03.jpg
A little later. The night was a real sausage-fest, but there was one girl with us. Usually flirting with girls is half the fun of my drinking experience, but this was two days before moving 3000 miles away, so I didn't mind.

So I wrote eight papers last night/today. Probably in the span of 16 hours. They were very small papers (I don't think any of them were much over 1000 words), but still . . . one of them was technically due back in September, and others spaced accordingly, but I wrote them all today. Yesterday. Whatever.
So to celebrate completing pretty much all of my work for one class in a single day, we watched Pirates of the Caribbean and drank lots of rum. Again.
Between the alcohol and the sleep-dep (I think it's been about forty hours since I last slept) and the elation of having finished those stupid papers, I'm in quite the happy, if sleepy, place right now.

Are these 750 mL bottles or 1.75 L? Or does vodka come in some crazy intermediate size in Poland?
0,75, I guess. But still...
Cool party :)
At the beginning, it took me about an hour to feel comfortable, even though I knew 90% of the people. It does say something about me, doesn't it.
I didn't drink much, so I wasn't particularly drunk. Much better that way.
I also learned that I can actually dance, if I have the right partner. Which was the first time in my life. So we ended up dancing a lot. Wee!

I'm not a frat boy!
I do admit I have absolutely no style though. One of my favorite parts of having a serious friend was having someone to dress me. I hate buying clothes, and have no concept of what looks good.
So what pray tell should I wear?
Anyway, Kama and Ophelia said I was cute :). I think its because I was drunk in the pictures though. I'm much better looking when I've had a few. Or maybe they confused me with Joe.
Thanks anyway s ;) .

I didn't realize Kama's smilies were links and thought both her and Strider's comments were directed towards me. So i made myself look overly pathetic. I am shocked and appaled that this thread wasn't posted on New Years Eve. What is wrong with you people. I'm actually more drunk tonight then I was then, so this is when I post.
I went two months plus without drinking, so I think my tolerance went down a bit. It would usually take twice this much to get me this intoxicated. No complaints though, I save money this way :).

I put two shots of Wild Turkey in my egg nog. It was the first time I felt warm in the house (outside of my bed, with 2 blankets and socks on and a space heater going).
I got all relaxed and comfortable and lucid. And I said to myself "huh, I got the internship...I gotta make a 7-minute video....all by myself....no one else..."

So tonight I was on a pub crawl...

There's this girl. Tall, dark, gorgeous. But more importantly...
Her Top Five records are to die for. TO DIE FOR. I have NEVER met another girl who would put any Tool album, let alone Lateralus, in her Top Five. Or even Alice in Chains. I... I'm not sure what to do. I can't deal with this, it's not supposed to happen. I performed and acoustic cover of Sober at her request, which was well-received, but still...
I'm in awe. Naturally after hearing her Top Five I informed her that we would have to get married, but I was (mostly) kidding. But where will I ever find another girl with that kind of Top Five? I can't believe it...
...and she was in my class the whole time. Never mind that I have a policy about dating girls from my class, I may have to try. We'll see...
Geez. Unbelievable.

I missed the winterball on Saturday. I guess everyone saw me mention tickets were sold out in Threadmail.
I was bummed because I had a dress, and it looked like I was going to hook up with the guy I liked. But I got over it and felt fine.
Then the day of, I ended up spending it sick at work, and later Wal-mart to get new tires that I had to wait a couple hours for. My gentleman friend was incredibly sick, so we couldn't hang out. I came home around 8, tired, depressed, missing my sister who was probably strolling in with her red dress into the ballroom, and also found that my parents had left to go have dinner without me. I found out later, they left a few minutes before I got home, but they didn't think to leave me a note to tell me where they were going or even to call my cell. Very bad mood. Very bad.
I also felt exhausted and overwhelmed with work. I think it was just hormones and sickness that made me feel that way.
I want to thank John for listening to my half-hour rant on the phone on Saturday. Thanks for being a friend :) .
Sorry, I didn't drink anything.
It was Ophelia and Twinks' mention of formal dances that got me going.

Wow, two near-fuckups in one night.
So I'm out with a few friends. This guy and this girl who picked him up last week tell us they're driving us home or at least to the pizza place. Ostensibly, he is driving her to her car (which is in the same parking lot as his house) and then she is driving home. Naturally a joke is made about her remaining at his place. Hopefully no one was offended and nothing was messed up, but it's hard to tell.
So we get to the pizza place. My friends get their pizza (I'm not hungry). We're sitting outside, and for some reason someone starts talking to this stoner dude who is waiting by the phone booth for "his boys."
He starts asking us what instruments we play. I inform him that I play three the piano, since I was four, the guitar since I was 15, and the trombone since I was 11 or 12. Fine. His "boys" come out. The dude keeps asking one of my friends (who is non-musical) what instrument he plays. Of course, his answer is "the jugs." Anyway, this doesn't go over so well with one of their number. Bunch of retards. Two of us study karate and the third is fucking huge. We aren't exactly the best group to be picking a fight with. Fortunately, though, we have our heads screwed on straight and just make our way home without fighting anybody.
...aside from the retards, the night was most excellent. I kinda want more beer, but it's after 3:30 AM.

*confused* Sangria has alcohol in it??
Maybe it's something different.
At a concert in a nightclub last week, I wanted an Italian soda. The bartender had never heard of it, so I asked if he had any flavored syrup.
"We have sangria (sp?)." And then swore it didn't have alcohol in it.
I taught him how to make an italian soda, and then had three. Maybe it wasn't sangria?
Sangria is wine with fruit in it.

I haven't been drinking today, but before my talking privileges were revoked at my roommate's birthday dinner, my own birthday drunkeness was discussed. It was explained to me that the reason I was a less interesting drunk than our other friend because I'm just a lot funnier when I'm sober, so there wasn't as much of a noticeable change. Plus I seem to have a slightly higher tolerance (which is weird, because I'm a pretty cheap drunk), and they also spent half an hour trying to get me to put down the phone.

I have to listen to the washer. If it stops to drain, I have to go sit there and make sure it doesn't overflow the drain pipe and all over the floor. We have very lousy drainage where I live.
In fact, after I posted that message, I realized the washer wasn't running anymore, and neither was the space heater. I thought, "Crap--I blew a breaker." I didn't know which breaker, how to fix it, and I was half-sloshed. So I said screw it and went to bed and fixed it in the morning.

Theoretically I'm supposed to be going to Canada's Wonderland with Polly on the weekend of the 26th. I might be able to push that back, it depends on when she's going to the North Pole. She and I both have a long weekend this Canada Day which is the weekend after the 26th, so maybe I could bump it back until then. You and I might be able to do something over the Canada Day weekend if you're still in town but I suspect I'm going to get roped in to juggling on the 1st up in Waterloo. See? Complicated.
Anyway, assuming you're a) free and B) wanting to do something during one of those weekends (be it more mini golf, movies, amusement parks or general hanging out) let me know. Sooner than later so's I can figure out how everything needs to be scheduled.

Dan, it looks like I'll definitely be gone before Canada Day weekend. But if you do bump your Wonderland trip back, I can do something next weekend.
Raja, good luck with the interview. :)
On the off chance either of you are free weekdays, my whole week is open right now (or rather, the plans I do have don't have dates yet).

I might be free Monday or Tuesday of next week, but I won't know until the weekend... on Wednesday, I think, I leave for Nova Scotia.
Hmmm... the porter from Zywiec will be one of the beers I'm bringing for Bok. My dad says he doesn't like it cause t's too bitter, but I'm drinking it right now and it's good. Though it's not the kind of beer I'd drink often.

No dice, Lindsay. Events are already in motion.
Have fun moving your life from one state to another. It's a special kind of fun. And hey, it's not impossible to think that we'll run into each other at some point down the road. We might even recognize each other!

Oh well. At this point, people who have known I've been home for a month are pestering to hang out with me now that I have a known departure date.
To which I have said "Screw you. Mariko has made efforts to see me at least once a week this summer. I'm gonna ignore you and go see her play even if she does say the production is crappy!" *beat* "Oh yeah, you can come if you want . . ."
Anyway, I'm sure this is not the last time I'll ever be in the Detroit area. So yeah. Some other time. :)

Even more fun is the thought that in the winter, I get to do it again!

Holy crap, I'm tanked. Just thought I'd share.
BtL, I've been hanging out with your brother. There is more to come. We shall communicate further.

You know, given my constant threats to Eddie of sleeping with his sister, and given your screenname, I should be able to make a damn good joke about you oh-so-casually mentioning that you've been "hanging out with your brother" and there's "more to come."
But damn if I can't do it.
At least you seem capable of doing it.
Oh, I'm SO still in the game. Shazaam!

Oh yeah, he's out East now isn't he? I'm sure he drank you under the table ;)
Man, I haven't talked to him for like, 4 months. He went and got his masters sometime in there.
I should write the man an E-mail.

You know, I didn't know that meaning of "twink" until very recently. It's actually an oblique Calvin & Hobbes reference.
BtL, yes, you should. :)

It's late, I've been up all day, and had 2 shots (well, 1 and a half, right now) of godiva liqueur that I got for my birthday.
I've been trying to set up a monster resume, but it isn't happening; I should just go to bed.
I am at least comfortably numb. If I did this last night, I would be partially drunk and crying into my steal-your-face shot glass.
Life is good. Life is bad. Life is okay. Life is a four-letter word. Life is life. Lechlaim.
I am sad sometimes. I miss my former lover, I miss some of my friends from school. I miss the feelings of carefree youth.
But I am content (well, as content as I get these days). I still have some very good friends close at hand. I have my car, my job, my yoga classes. My family, though they cause me strife to some extent (don't get me started on my sister and her unwitting insults). A will to do better, to not so much put my life together, because that life is over--but start my life. The pieces are powder, and I must make clay. Phoenix from the ashes.
Enough of my philosophical chatter. Raise your glass to your life, no matter how shitty or awesome. It's all good. At least we can still have that drink. :)
And now I've finished my shot. :D (edited for semantical error; hey, I'm a little toasty)

Don't bang your head! It is a pretty Polish head, and must be preserved!

I am tired and one Twisted Tea is enough to make me a little woohooey.

A frind at work had a good bye party. I was planning to stay for an hour, and take the next bus home. But I couldn't make up my mind to move my ass so I missed it. Went back to the office, pretty drunk, to wait for the next bus. Started sending random IMs to people. The girl that was still in the office said she was going to a bar with some people, and asked if I wanted to go. So I did. I just had one beer, but with the vodka I had earlier, it was enough to keep me really intoxicated. I took the very last bus home, and must have drifted off, cause the next thing I remember was being woken up at the last bus stop. Luckily, it's not that far from where I live, so it only took a few stops to get back.
Stupid Kama.
At least I'm not hang-over today.

Went out for drinks with some work people after work. I was hungry but I started drinking well before we got food because I was really missing beer. I like beer, and I don't have any in my apartment, so it's a fair while since I had a nice draught beer on tap. Thankfully tonight that was remedied. I have a bottle of whisky here that is specifically for drinking alone, by order of the gifter, so I think I might consume some of that, clean the place up a bit while listening to Eve 6* to herald the onset of summer, and then find a bar/club and/or set of bars/clubs to hit later.
Or just post a lot to this thread.
is this the reason why I *still* don'tknow how to say Raja?

No, now the reason is more complicated: I discovered that I deleted the audio file I had of me pronouncing it correctly, and I can't record another because my computer is having hardware problems. I'm presently booted in safe mode, and all audio drivers are disabled.

Just for you, I have taken the risk of booting in normal mode. Here you go (http://www.strobelight.ca/misc/Raja%20Tutorial.mp3). I'll start a thread at the other place about it, too.

Went to the tri-weekly Attitude Adjustment meeting after work today. Mmmmm, Hoegaarden. But I just realized I can't go to H2G2 tonight as I'd planned because the buses stop running before it's over. Guess I'll just have to stay in with my 'Cube, Firefly DVDs, and the bottle of whisky I got as a gift that is clearly labelled "for drinking alone."
