Hi everyone its niki,
On the tribe boards we were discussing how the direct tv channel WAM
isn't showing the tribe (which is about kids living in a world without adults, tring to keep the dream about survival and making the world a better place) s5 because not enough people are watching it. So if you can just check it out! If you have direct tv it is channel 533.

There is a series called The Tribe on WAM produced in New Zealand. It's a sci-fi show for adolescents, like a pop-encrusted cross between The Stand, Lord of the Flies, Beverly Hills 90210 and Mandy Moore films.
Niki likes it, and she wants to get WAM to show the fifth season, which is why she is trying to recruit you to watch it.

You know, i honestly feel that I have seen an episode of this.
Why is it that shows where the characters have accents always seem better than their American counterparts?

<----doesn't even get cable where she lives.
I have rabbit ears. I get 10 channels and only 2 are clear all the time. And they're in Spanish.
I don't like TV much anyway.

some years ago I remember a show about a kid who fell off a tree or something and he would slip in and out of conciousness but he was mostly in a coma, and in his coma world he was in this world without adults, and all the kids there were his friends from the real world, and i remember it being very strange. Odyessy or something like that. anyone know what i'm talking about? I remember it being a Canadian show.

Hey, I spent a couple minutes looking for this thread because The Tribe has now been syndicated and is available for broadcast stations.
How do I know this? I got A REAL JOB! Unfortunately, it's only 15-20 hours a week so I have to work at the grocery store. As of this past Tuesday, I am a production and studio assistant for WMCN in Atlantic City (http://www.wmcn.tv), which is available through the tri-state area (DE, NJ, PA).
The guy I'm replacing and me were doing ingests for Monday and Tuesday and episode one of this show on the roster. It seemed different from the typical religious shows, infomercials and car dealer promotions that we normally get, so I watched it while it was feeding into our system, which it does in real time.
I could see why Nikki likes it and asked us if we did. I can also see why most of us had never heard of it. Most definately geared towards young adults and preteens. I think I would have liked it if I were that age too.
I thought the costumes seemed a bit outdated, even for a post-apocolyptic world, and it's because the show was made in the late 90s. Even so, it was a pleasant refreshment. I kind of enjoyed it.

Now that I'm rereading the old posts, I guess the show did not make it to another season--since the first season was 1999. Which explains why it's now syndicated.
And you can tell it's shot in New Zealand.

Awesome news about the job situation, Starla! That is freaking great!
And the show you guys are talking about sounds kind of interesting. Not to watch, but because I want to know what the heck you guys are referencing.
congrats about the job, girl :)
*wonders how many forum names Niki has*

It seems the show is about a world without adults. It seems a virus was killing everyone and all children under 18 were put in quarantine, no one else. After everyone died, the kids have come out and created a tribe system that involves face painting (think Cyndi Lauper meets Marilyn Manson). Some of the tribes have become gangs, like the Locos and Devil Dogs, but others seems to just get together and protect each other. Some kids are still trying to get into tribes, create alliances or start tribes of their own.
That's all I gleaned from episode 1.
Heres a useless website. (http://www.tribeworld.com/)
I think Niki has at least 6.

I thought it was terrible. I didn't know it made it longer than one or two seasons.

It's a drama-teen show. I'm surprised it managed 4 seasons, because a plot like that is good for a movie, or a Christopher Pike book.
Like I said, when you work for a station that shows useless workout and health informercials, Godformercials, Car dealerships and real estate shows (don't forget the one token Live Ask-the-Plastic-Surgeon show, and the scary Clowntown show), it was kind of refreshing to see something that wasn't about God, lose-fat-fast, cars and Real estate. Don't forget the clowns.
(edited out nonsensical word).

This sounds like one of my favorite Star Trek episodes.
